Fall 2018 Building Steam Dinner

Published: 09/11/2018

Please join us in attending a unique dining experience on Friday, November 2, 2018, to support For the Kids, By George Children’s Museum at the Historic McFarland House in Martinsburg, WV.

The night promises to capture a moment in history in 1842 - the evening after the first passenger train arrived 176 years ago. An elegant four-course dinner featuring authentic recipes from the 1830s will be served.

Our special guest - John P. Hankey - will take us back to that time and place in ways that promise to surprise and delight.

John P. Hankey is an independent scholar, historian, and railroader. A native of Baltimore, he served the B&O Railroad in a variety of capacities including company historian, locomotive engineer, and Curator of the B&O Railroad Museum. He holds a B.S. from the John Hopkins University, an M.A. as a Hagley Fellow at the University of Delaware, and did further graduate study at the University of Chicago. Presently he is a consultant to railroads, railroad museums, and historic preservation projects throughout the United States.

Travel with us back in time for an evening of innovative theater, good 19th-century food, interesting history, and entertainment.

Tickets are $75 per person - Purchase Tickets
