The For The Kids, By George Children’s Museum participates in the West Virginia Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP), a tax credit program. This program allows West Virginians to reduce their state tax liability by up to 50%. We apply for these tax credits every June through the West Virginia Development Office and the awards are announced in early September. We currently do have NIP Tax Credits available!
Tax credits can help donors make sizable gifts that will benefit their favorite charities, like our little Children’s Museum! NIP tax credits can save taxpayers up to 50% of what they own in WV State taxes while supporting important nonprofit programs.
GUIDELINES
The minimum gift to For The Kids, By George Children’s Museum to qualify for NIP tax credits is $500. Contributions up to a certain amount earn a 50% tax credit. Contributions made to our museum for NIP tax credits will be allocated as follows: Children at Title One schools will visit our museum with no cost to them. Students in need of scholarships for workshops, camps and classes will receive them through these funds.
INSTRUCTIONS
Any resident may contribute, but individuals who are 72 and have a Traditional IRA can use a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from their IRA to receive NIP tax credits. Donors may use the credits to reduce liability for West Virginia Personal Income Tax or Corporate Net Income Tax. Donors interested in reserving NIP tax credits to support FOR THE KIDS, BY GEORGE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM should do one of the following:
*email: director@forthekidsbygeorge.org
*call: Aubrey Ervin at (304) 264-9977
*reach out to one of our board members!
to discuss their donation for this program.
We ask that all NIP eligible gifts be made to For The Kids, By George by December 15th.
